It’s common for children to try to sneak into their parents’ beds. Sometimes parents relent and let their kids sleep in their beds. This can make it harder for you to get a good night’s rest, though. 

It’s better to enforce sleep boundaries and work to get your child to feel comfortable sleeping in their own bed. Consider working on this by spending time with your child before bed and helping them to feel at ease. As mentioned above, reading kids a story before bed is a good way to help with this.

Some people like to set rules such as “no screen time after 8 PM.” You don’t have to be this strict if you don’t want to, but the quiet time before bed is going to help you sleep better while also helping your children. Try to cultivate a calm atmosphere in your home as it approaches bedtime. 

Spend Time With Your Partner

Spending time with your partner before bed will help you to deepen your bond. As parents, you spend a lot of time focusing on your children. Having a little bit of time before bed to spend together should be something that you cherish. It doesn’t matter what you do, but you do want to do something that you both enjoy. 

Cuddle and watch a movie together or just spend time in bed reflecting on your day. Enjoy these relaxed moments together, and it should make getting a good night’s rest easier. If you’ve done a good job getting your kids used to sleeping in their own beds, that’ll make things that much better.
